Lindsey Brounstein, Director of Publications

Lindsey Brounstein

Lindsey graduated from Colgate University in 2006 with a BA degree in English with emphasis in creative writing and classical studies. She joined the AGA's publications department in 2007 as an editorial assistant. Today, Lindsey serves as director of publications for AGA and the managing editor for Cellular and Molecular Gastroenterology and Hepatology (CMGH). Working with the editors and publications staff, Lindsey helps develop and implement strategies and initiatives across AGA's portfolio of publications, keeping up with emerging trends in scholarly publishing. Lindsey is a member of the International Society of Managing and Technical Editors (ISMTE).


Ryan Farrell, MA, Senior Publications Manager

Ryan Farrell, MA

Ryan received his BA in American History from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2008 and his MA in History of Medicine with Distinction from Oxford Brookes University in 2013. He joined the AGA in 2014 as an editorial assistant. He is now managing editor of Techniques and Innovations in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy as well as Gastro Hep Advances and The New Gastroenterologist. Ryan is a member of the Society for Scholarly Publishing (he received their 2019 Early Career Fellowship and now co-chairs the Early Career Subcommittee and serves on the Nominating and Awards Committee) and the International Society of Managing and Technical Editors (where he chairs the North American Conference Planning Committee).


Laura Flecha, Assistant Managing Editor

Laura Flecha

Laura received her MA in writing at Johns Hopkins University Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences. She joined the AGA's publications department in 2006 as an editorial assistant and is now assistant managing editor to Gastroenterology and TIGE. Her work on Gastroenterology includes providing support for editors, authors, and reviewers. Laura manages several special sections including "Selected Summaries," "Clinical Challenges and Images in GI," "Practical Teaching Cases," "Gastroenterology in Motion," and CME. She coordinates the membership of the journal's Editorial Board. Laura also facilitates the publication of an annual special issue to Gastroenterology.


Erin Landis, Vice President of Publications

Erin Landis

Erin Landis received her BA in psychology from The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA, and began her career in scholarly publishing at the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) in 2000. In her role as Vice President of Publications, she oversees the editorial and financial operations of five GI-related peer-reviewed journals; a newspaper, GI & Hepatology News; a magazine, The New Gastroenterologist; and a quarterly digital digest of research from the AGA journals called AGA Clinician's Companion. In partnership with the editors and editorial staff, she ensures that the publications maintain and advance their standing in the GI community and align with the AGA strategic plan. She also develops publication policies, oversees the development and implementation of new initiatives, and manages the periodicals' marketing activities. Erin is the current president of the International Society of Managing and Technical Editors, the co-chair of the Publishing Professional Peer Group of the Council of Medical Specialty Societies, and a writer for C4DISC's "Anti-racist Toolkit for Organizations". She is also a member of the Society for Scholarly Publishing, Council of Science Editors, Committee on Publication Ethics, and the American Society of Association Executives.


Sunni Losito, MSMI, Junior Medical Illustrator and Animator

Sunni Losito, MSMI

Sunni received her BFA in scientific illustration from the University of Georgia in 2016 and her MS in medical illustration from Augusta University in 2018. She joined the publications team at AGA in 2018 as the junior medical illustrator and animator where she develops educational figures, animations, and cover designs for its family of journals. She is also a member of the Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI) and the International Society of Managing and Technical Editors (ISMTE).


Thoba Petrovic, Senior Managing Editor, Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology

Thoba Petrovic

Thoba received her BS in information systems management concentrating in programming at Strayer University, and her AD in computer applications from Montgomery College. Thoba has over twenty years of experience in scholarly publishing; she joined the AGA in 2000 and currently manages all aspects of Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology (CGH). She is a past member of the International Society of Managing and Technical Editors Training Committee, where she was involved in the development of training modules for the society.


Gina Reitenauer, Publications Coordinator

Gina Reitenauer

Gina received a dual BA in English & Textual Studies and Television, Radio & Film from Syracuse University in 2019. She joined the AGA as Publications Coordinator in 2021 while completing a Certificate in Editing from the University of Washington. In addition to working extensively with editors, authors, and reviewers for Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology (CGH), Gina also provides support for Gastroenterology and Cellular and Molecular Gastroenterology and Hepatology (CMGH), including promoting content on social media. She also copyedits articles for The New Gastroenterologist (TNG) and is a member of the International Society of Managing and Technical Editors (ISMTE).


Jillian Schweitzer, Managing Editor

Jillian Schweitzer

Jillian received her BA in English with a concentration in creative writing from Goucher College in 2008. She started at the American Gastroenterological Association's Publications Department in November 2011, as an editorial assistant. She was recently promoted to Managing Editor for GI & Hepatology News but also works on special sections, systems and projects for Gastroenterology, Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology (CGH), Cellular and Molecular Gastroenterology and Hepatology (CMGH) and Techniques and Innovations in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (TIGE). Jillian is a member of the International Society of Managing and Technical Editors (ISMTE).


Brook Simpson, Senior Publications Manager

Brook Simpson

Brook received her BA in English language and literature from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2003. She began working in the publications department of the AGA in 2006 as an editorial assistant. As senior publications manager, Brook serves as the managing editor of Gastroenterology. She also co-manages the quarterly digital digest of research from the AGA journals called AGA Clinician's Companion, and she oversees the social media presence for the AGA family of journals. Brook is a member of the Publishing Professional Peer Group of the Council of Medical Specialty Societies. She is also a member of the International Society of Managing and Technical Editors (ISMTE) where she is a past recipient of the annual ISMTE Award for Achievement or Innovation.


Sarah Williamson, MA, Senior Art Director, Publications

Sarah Williamson, MA

Sarah completed her undergraduate degree in biology/anthropology at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington, and her master's in medical illustration at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. She has over 20 years of experience creating medical and scientific illustrations for journals, textbooks, and presentations. She started her AGA career as the senior medical illustrator for the AGA journals in 2006.


Alexander Vaeth, Senior Publications and Digital Media Coordinator

Alexander Vaeth

Xander is certified in Digital Media Production and is currently studying Arts and Humanities at the Community College of Baltimore County. He joined the publications department at the AGA in 2015 as an editorial assistant. Xander produces promotional and instructional videos for the AGA journals, and creates graphics and animations for their digital media content. In addition to his digital media efforts, he assists with graphics production and designs covers for several of the AGA's journals. Xander serves as the assistant managing editor of Cellular and Molecular Gastroenterology and Hepatology and is a member of the International Society of Managing and Technical Editors.
